Ken Berke is a California-licensed attorney with over 29 years of experience. In 2014, Ken combined his legal, business, and regulatory compliance expertise to co-found PayQwick, INC. As PayQwick’s CEO and an attorney, he has played an integral role in creating PayQwick’s BSA/AML and state law compliance programs. This has provided him with an in depth understanding of the compliance standards banks must satisfy when working with legal marijuana businesses and how they can avoid the risk of exposure to potential liability when banking these businesses. Additionally, through developing PayQwick, Ken has gained extensive experience implementing cash management protocols for marijuana businesses, which has geatly helped PayQwick’s partner banks minimize the amount of cash they handle when working with legal marijuana businesses. Lastly, as PayQwick’s CEO, Ken has gained substantial experience advocating for marijuana banking reform before legislators, regulators, and government officials, which has given him a thorough understanding of what legislators and regulators desire with respect to regulatory compliance in general and banking marijuana in particular. Ken also hosts a radio show entitled CannaBusiness Solutions, which focuses on sharing best practices among marijuana businesses and industry experts.
Keith Marks has more than 30 years of experience in real estate, corporate finance and restructuring. Over the last several years, he has overseen the acquisition and disposition of 235 service stations and sites in the Western United States. Over his career, he has completed in excess of 500 transactions valued at more than $6.5 billion. Mr. Marks, along with a core group of strategic partners, owned or managed several other companies, which included: Amsted California Partners, Amsted Companies, CSL Reality Advisors, American Capital Partners, WindRiver Capital Group, WRCG Properties, WRCG Energy Partners, SunCor LLC and InterCapita, among others. Mr. Marks has a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate/Finance from Arizona State University.
For the previous 24 years, Mr. Braun has been heavily involved in real estate related services, developing, marketing and selling new products and services to the major real estate brokers, title insurance companies, and escrow companies throughout the 58 California counties. Mr. Braun was founder and principal of LGS Reports, Inc., a provider of natural hazard and related disclosure and compliance services in connection with residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial real estate transactions. LGS Reports was sold to The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF) in late 2005.
Mr. Braun was also principal of LGS Retrofitters, a company specializing in assisting Realtors in meeting mandatory city, county and state requirements prior to the close of escrow; LGS Environmental, a company specializing in inspecting, analyzing, evaluating and reporting the existence of mold primarily in residential properties in escrow. Until 2015, Mr. Braun also served as the President and COO of California Class Action Claims Administration, LLC. – a firm specialized in finding and assisting Class Members of defective building materials-settled claims and recover compensation from the established settlement funds. Mr. Braun has a BA in Finance from the Universidad Tecnológica de México, a State of California Insurance Broker’s License and a State of California Real Estate License.
